Plagiarism Screening Policy

Jurnal Geologi Pertambangan (JGP) is fully committed to maintaining academic integrity and preventing any forms of plagiarism or duplicate publication. All submitted manuscripts must undergo plagiarism screening before being processed further by the Editorial Board.

1. Screening Tools

Manuscript similarity checks are conducted using industry-standard plagiarism detection software, primarily Turnitin (or Plagiarism Checker X / Grammarly Premium).

2. Similarity Threshold
  • The maximum acceptable similarity index at JGP is no more than 20%.
  • The screening is applied to the full text, excluding References (References Excluded) and properly formatted direct quotes (Quotes Excluded).
  • Similarity with any single source should not exceed 3%–5%.

3. Actions Based on Similarity Scores

Similarity Score Category Editorial Action
≤ 20% Acceptable The manuscript proceeds to the peer-review stage.
21% – 35% Revision Required The manuscript is returned to the authors for paraphrasing and citation correction prior to peer review.
> 35% Desk Reject The manuscript is rejected immediately without peer review due to a high similarity index.

4. Handling Severe Misconduct

If evidence of severe self-plagiarism, geological/mining data fabrication, or unauthorized copying of another author's work is detected, the Editorial Board will take strict action following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, including permanent rejection and formal notification to the author's institution if necessary.
