Peer Review Process

Every manuscript submitted to Jurnal Geologi  Pertambangan (JGP) undergoes a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality and scientific validity of the publication. The journal employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system, where the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential from each other.

Review Workflow

1. Initial Review (Desk Evaluation)

The Editor evaluates the manuscript for alignment with the journal's Focus and Scope, adherence to formatting guidelines, file completeness, and potential plagiarism (using Turnitin or other plagiarism detection software).

* Manuscripts that fail to meet these initial criteria or exhibit a high similarity index will be rejected outright (desk reject).

2. Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are anonymized (blinded manuscript) and assigned to at least two (2) expert reviewers with relevant specialization in the subject area.

3. Review Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on key criteria:

  • Novelty and scientific contribution.
  • Soundness of methodology, data analysis, and conclusions.
  • Clarity of presentation, including tables, geological/mining maps, graphics, and language quality.
  • Relevance and currency of the cited references.
4. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board reaches a final decision:

Accept Submission: Accepted without revisions.
Revisions Required: Accepted with minor revisions (1–2 weeks given).
Resubmit for Review: Requires major revisions & secondary review (2–4 weeks given).
Decline Submission: Rejected for failing scientific quality standards.
5. Final Check & Publication

The revised manuscript undergoes a final review by the Editor before moving to copyediting, layout design, and publication.
