Abstract

Action research aims to determine the effect of descriptive methods a matter of playing cards to increase the ability of working on the story in the fourth grade math at
SD Negeri 012 Tenggarong Academic Year 2012/2013 . Subjects who were given action is Elementary School fourth grade students at SD Negeri 012 Tenggarong 2012/2013,
amounting to 26 students and divided into 6 groups. Given form of action is to use a card that is used to write down questions about the story and then discussed by the students in
groups and discussed jointly between teachers and students. To find an increase in the ability of students to work on a story about the trials carried out tests carried out two
times and then the results are analyzed . The results showed that the tendency descriptive mathematics achievement fourth grade students at SD Negeri 012 Tenggarong of
Academic Year 2012/2013 there was an increase , there are the average score of acquisition before the measures was 5.97 and 6.65 after the measures to be thus meaning there have increase achievement of 0.68
